The 2000 Viper RT/10 is the classic "wind in your hair" roadster. Defined as the quintessential American

sports car with a big-block engine, fast, loud and untamed. Who can argue? When Dodge Viper

exploded onto the street in 1992, it came with a clear presence and vision. Since then, there have

been many modifications. The RT/10 has 400+ HP, overmatched steamroller tires (P335 35 r17),

and looks that can kill. The arresting-looking car with nothing else to brag about but a mammoth

engine, into what feels like a finished piece of work that you could only hope to drive regularly,

instead of just on sunny Sundays. The Viper's engine is unique among cars with an aluminum V10

that relies on sheer size (8.0 liters) rather than overhead camshafts or multiple valves for its

horsepower-making ability. Dodge boosted the horsepower in recent years by trading the nostalgic

but inefficient side-exit exhausts for more conventional rear-exit tailpipes. It is thunderously potent,

yanking Viper to the 167-mile-per-hour limit before you turn into an airplane.

Springs and shock absorbers are close to the wheels, giving more precise control over how and

how much the wheels move on bumps and in corners, which also aids in precisely controlling wheel

movement. It works delightfully well providing a reassuringly crisp feel and keeping drivers out of

trouble at higher speeds in challenging maneuvers and helping save them from disaster when

momentum exceeds traction.
